Williams takes over as coach of Woodson girls soccer:

Woodson announced this week that former Centreville girls soccer coach Warren Williams has accepted the same position with the Cavaliers. Williams spent nine seasons at Centreville, leading the Wildcats to five Concorde District titles and two Northern Region titles. He replaces Sharon Andrulot, who coached at Woodson for three years.

Area Swimming Roundup:

The North Hills Hurricanes outlasted the the Glade Gators 608 to 489 during NVSL's June 28 meet.

The triple event winners for the Gators included Tyler Ellis, Max Onozuka, Srikar Kuppa, Andrew Draganov, Jonathan Christensen and Sarah Hazelton.

The Hurricanes' triple event winners included Grace Tierney, Allison Cimino, Rachel Swarts and William Fehringer.

In the same meet, the Hunters Woods Blue Marlins defeated the Newbridge Dolphins 611 to 477.

Maaike Blindenbach, Dylann Nasr, Melissa Le, Rachel Tang, Kevin Cho, Vinny Digilio and Lloyd Ramey were triple event winners for Hunters Woods.

Newbridge triple event winners were Eric Compton, Stephen Baldwin and Peter Moran.

The Lake Audubon Barracudas bested the Lake Anne Stingrays 711 to 416 in record-setting fashion. The boys 15-18 200 meter medley relay swam a team record time of 2:04.38, shattering the old time of 2:09.56.

Lake Audubon triple event winners included Jacob Cole, Garrison O'Donnell, Nikki Corey, Seretha McHugh, John Hughes, Vela McBride, Shane Scoggin and Alissa Avilov.

Bryan Marquet was Lake Anne's lone triple event winner.

The Ridge Heights Sharks edged the Lake Newport Lightning 546 to 536.

Lightning triple event winners were Jimmy Keys, Conor McLaughlin, Ryan McLaughlin, Katie Storch, Nathan Williams, Nicole Russell and Kelly Becker.

Harrison Hughes, Emily Sennett, Brad Dillon and Laura Dillon were triple event winners for the Sharks.

The Pleasant Valley Piranhas (1-1) swam to a 215-178 victory over Old Keene Mill in NVSL Division 12 action over the weekend.

Tommy Meeusen set a new team record in the boys 15-18 fly, while later joining Ricky Hayden, James Caron and Christopher Hoffman to break a second mark in the boys 15-18 200-meter medley relay.

Double winners on the girls side included Maddie Graham (11-12 freestyle) and Kaitlyn Neitz (11-12 breaststroke), as that pair later teamed with Mary Krolicki and Amanda Payton to take the girls 11-12 100 medley relay.

Two-time boys winners were Drew Carinci (11-12 freestyle and fly), Garrett Anderson (9-10 freestyle and breaststroke) and John Krolicki (13-14 freestyle and fly).

The Langley Wildthings swam against Dunn Loring on Saturday but the Dolphins held command of their own pool and managed to hold off the Wildthings, 226-176.

Double event winners for Langley included Nathan Johnson (9-10 backstroke and breaststroke), Marli Peress (11-12 backstroke and fly), Tracy DeMocker (15-18 freestyle and breaststroke) and Meghan Overend (15-18 backstroke and fly).

Earlier this season, Johnson broke the team's first record of the year in the boys 9-10 backstroke with a time of 38.72 against Mansion House on June 21.

Registration is open for the Reston Youth Association's (RYA) fall 2008 football and cheerleading programs. The Washington Bayhawks professional lacrosse team will host three camps this summer at George Mason University. Two skills camps will run July 16-18 and July 23-25 from 9 a.m until 3 p.m. One goalie camp will run July 19-20 from 9 a.m. until noon. Though TripleEDGE lacrosse sponsors all Bayhawk camps, the July 23-25 camp will partner staff members from both organizations to provide even more individual instruction. Bayhawks middies Billy Glading, Kyle Dixon have been named co-directors of the skills camps and goalkeeper Chris Garrity will direct the goalie camp. One on One Basketball will be running its 12th annual Summer Hoops Camps for girls and boys ages 6-12 at Tysons Sport & Health this summer. Camps run from June through August. The Westfield Athletic Booster Club has announced the dates for three sports camps this summer. An elite girls basketball camp for players ages 10 to 15 will take place July 7-11. Players ages 8 to 15 can participate in Session 2, from July 21 to 25. Each session is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and tuition is $140 for the week.
